ATHEISM IN THE RELIGIOUS DEMOCRACY

By: Lintang Wetan

Does the country still deserve to be called as a democracy? Who gave the authority to communities, even nations, to interfere with a person's religious life? Religion or not, believe or not believe in God, theist or atheist, is an individual affair. Why in this country it is a matter for mass?

The first principle of Pancasila as the foundation of our country, take the term Godhead. Not God, nor a personal God or a religious affiliation. Godhead is the virtue of a cosmic, universal and normative. Only people with narrow thinking may translate the term as a figure of Mr. God who throne in the sky.

As we know, Buddhism also has no concept of God, Buddhism is an atheistic religion. Actually, it is still recognized as the official religion in this country. This signs our founding father had universal paradigm in religious issues, much different from the elitist and religious leaders today.

When the corruptors and criminals continue to be free roaming and raising his stomach in this country, Alexander A'an captured and tyrannized, not for corruption or evil, but because only he is an atheist. This man dared to stand as his own, dared to honestly acknowledge his identity. Indeed he is - which today is considered waste – truly, the hero of the future of this country.
